Scooter Newsletter - November 2006

Hello again everyone!  Hope you are all enjoying the summer weather (it has been a rainy, I know, but when it is sunny it really feels like summer) and getting out and about on your scooters…

Thanks to your support again – we have had a great month.  The most popular scooter this month has been the Mio 50 and 100.  Not surprising really it is a fantastic scooter (not that I am bias at all, given that it is what I ride).

A new scooter has been released by Bolwell – the PMX Naked.   This scooter is pretty spunky.  Pared down and very sporty – it performs well too.  It has alloy motocross handlebars and wave disk brakes.

The Bolwell Scoota guys raced this scoot in the Le Minz 2006 24 hour Scooter Race in Melbourne in September – they really worked it hard too.

PMX Naked 50cc Bolwell Scooter

The PMX Naked scooter in racing action

The PMX Naked came first in the unrestricted category and having completed 2,203 laps of the 0.497 kilometre track, also had the honour of completing the most laps of any division.

And they reported that the PMX Naked finished in great condition, tread still on the tyres, brakes working well and run in beautifully! A testament to the quality of Bolwell Scootas; 24-hours of continuous hard riding and still going strong!

Scott is thinking about swapping over from the Firenze 250 to the PMX Naked (it is a 50cc by the way – you only need a car licence!).

The other exciting news we have had this month is that myself, Emma, Jasmine and Lynn (Emma’s sister and mum respectively) finally got ourselves organised and did our Automatic Scooter Licence course on Saturday 11th November 2006.  (The photo left is not a picture of us… it is the PMX Naked racing in the Le Minz 2006!)

Thanks to Michael Hincks for being sooooo nice to all of us (even Brian, Emma’s dad, who tagged along for a look see) – the pressure of dealing with four ladies at once can be daunting.  All passed and learnt a great deal along the way.

If you are interested in doing your Automatic Scooter Licence (this will allow you to ride scooters over 50cc’s) just drop in and see Scott and he will hook you up with Michael from Sunshine Coast Motorcycle Rider Training for your Q-Ride.

Maintaining your Scooter

Every month we thought you might like a little tip on how to maintain your scooter to keep it in tip top scooting condition.  This month – 2 stroke oil!

Don’t forget when checking your 2-stroke oil to top it up with a good quality product – we recommend Motul Scooter Expert which is designed for specifically for scooter engines (not lawnmowers!!).  So if you want to keep your scooter in perfect running condition, remember quality oil is important.

Also, Bolwell Scoota have updated their website – it looks pretty cool.  The address is www.scoota.com.au if you would like to check it out!

Something to keep in mind when you have visitors and they need to get around - Scooter Style Hire will be up and running by the end of November.  We will be hiring Mio 50’s and Red Devils (because when you are in Noosa you should look cool getting around).

Scooter Style Events!!!!!!!!

We are planning a Scooter Style get together for Sunday 3rd December 2006.  How does brunch at Ma Mensa on Hastings Street, Noosa Heads sound?

You can either meet us at Scooter Style, Eumundi Road, Noosaville at 9.30am on Sunday 3rd December and ride down to Hastings Street.  Or if you would prefer, you can meet us at Ma Mensa on Hasting Street, Noosa Heads at 10am.

But seats will need to be booked in advance (so we can make sure we can get a table or three – brunch at Ma Mensa is pretty popular!).  So if you want to come along, please let us know by email (andrea@scooterstyle.com.au) or drop into the shop before 27th November 2006.

For those of you who missed our first ride, we would love to have you join us for a scoot and a coffee!

Happy Scooting (and hope to see you on the 3rd December!)
Andrea & Scott
